The past comes alive

In the famous blue display cases of the Silesian Museum, stories are told about objects from different times. At the touch of a button, you can listen to how the Prussian royal family climbed the Schneekoppe, how an ancient woman remembers her life in the mountains or how the poet Gerhart Hauptmann bid farewell to life during the expulsion of the Germans from Silesia.

Other objects tell of aristocratic pride and civic spirit, of festivals and joys, of war and suffering. The room in which the objects provide information about the lives of their owners or the purpose of their production is the large hallway on the first floor of the Schönhof. It is located directly above the entrance hall and below room 1. Above, on the first floor, there is an overview of the landscape, topography and towns of Silesia, giving an intensive impression of the life of people in Silesia at different times.
