Schönhof digital
With this initiative, the Görlitzer Schönhof, as a unique architectural monument of the Renaissance, is made virtually visible and accessible. You can explore many treasures of the Silesian Museum in greater detail here than in the exhibition itself.
The work on the project
Since January 2022, the Schönhof has been captured and presented by knowledgeable specialists using the latest measurement and visualization technologies. This includes 3D laser scanning of the architecture, optical 3D scanning of architectural details, sculptures, and artisanal objects, as well as photogrammetry for the development of a virtual tour. Additionally, the museum is made virtually accessible through aerial panoramas, 3D printing, and the modeling of digitized objects, as well as gigapixel photography and 4K and 8K resolution films.

Virtual Tour of the Museum
Rethinking the Museum: In the project "Schönhof digital," we offer worldwide, barrier-free access to the historical architecture and rich permanent exhibition of the Silesian Museum in Görlitz! Through specially developed digital tours on this website and an interactive app, selected masterpieces of Silesian art and culture, as well as the unique architectural features of the Schönhof, are accessible around the clock, free of charge, and from anywhere in the world. All offerings are available in German, Polish, and English, interactive, and invite users to explore, marvel, and engage in exchange.

Virtual Collection
Since the end of 2022, the "Schönhof digital" website has been accessible on multimedia devices such as tablets and smartphones, as well as through virtual reality goggles. A new, intuitive app serves as an interactive museum guide for visitors. It provides 3D models of the exhibits and architectural details, interior panoramas, high-resolution photos of paintings, and descriptions in three languages. These offerings can be utilized by on-site museum guests or provide a virtual online tour of the Schönhof and its exhibits.

Exploring the Museum with a Smartphone
The "Schönhof digital" website provides a comprehensive depiction of the Schönhof building in Görlitz. Furthermore, it offers an insight into the unique collection of the Silesian Museum. Many architectural peculiarities and details can be experienced through 3D captures, as well as a large portion of the exhibits that can be viewed in the permanent exhibition. When on the go with a smartphone, the virtual tour on-site provides a deeper museum experience. However, the website also offers a virtual access from anywhere in the world.
